While we build AI and launch into space, nature solves complexity with no central control, no blueprint, no overseer, just countless small interactions accumulating into coherent form.‘Rise’ explores what this suggests about creation itself and the artist’s role in our digital age. A few equations can explain the branching found throughout the living world.
Alan Turing’s handwritten notes are engraved in this piece, becoming part of the form itself – making visible his effort to understand what nature does effortlessly. ‘Rise’ slows down to examine what’s been organising itself long before human innovation began, and what continues beneath it – minimal effectiveness.
